- Though still unmistakably descended from its iconic, military-bred predecessor, the second-generation W463 (sold 2019–2024) was thoroughly reengineered beneath its widened, brutally handsome bodywork. Major changes included rack-and-pinion steering and, for the first time in model history, independent front suspension. These upgrades significantly improved on-road refinement and handling, while hallmark features like full-time 4WD and triple locking differentials ensured it remained a force off-pavement. With close to 600 horsepower, the G63 was capable of 0-60 in under 4 seconds–astonishing performance for a nearly three-ton vehicle.
